State College, Pennsylvania-based Eclipse Resources is an oil and gas exploration and production company founded in January, 2011 by a pair of industry veterans. The company plans to focus on Appalachian Basin exploration of the Marcellus shale, Utica shale and Upper Devonian horizons.

The new company is backed by a $150 million investment by EnCap Investments.^[1]
